DG Pathway Guide
A DG pathway is not just DG — it is a base, an edge, and two compacted lifts.
Loose DG on native soil looks fine for a week and then bares out. The trick to a pathway that lasts is base and compaction.
The correct stack
- Excavate 4"–5" below finished grade.
- Install steel or bender-board edging.
- Compact 2"–3" aggregate base.
- Place DG in two 1.5" lifts, watering and compacting each lift.
- For heavy traffic or slopes, blend in stabilizer per manufacturer spec.
