"Mulch" covers a wide range of ground-cover products. Picking the right one for the job saves both money and re-work.
The common types

| Fir bark (small / medium) | Beds, borders, top-dressing. |
| Walk-on / gorilla hair | Slopes and areas with foot traffic. |
| Cedar | Fragrance and pest deterrence. |
| Playground mulch (EWF) | IPEMA-certified play areas. |
| Arborist chips | Vegetable gardens, informal beds. |
