Material Estimating Guide
Three steps — measure, depth, waste — that work on every bulk material.
The math for every bulk material is the same. Once you know the pattern, you can estimate anything on the fly.
The three steps
- Measure the area in square feet.
- Multiply by depth in feet (inches ÷ 12) to get cubic feet.
- Divide by 27 to get cubic yards, then add your waste factor.
