How to Calculate Excavation Quantity
Bank yards × swell = loose truck yards. Round truckloads up and confirm disposal rate.
Bank vs loose volume
Bank cubic yards = in-place volume before digging (length × width × depth).
Loose cubic yards = truck-loaded volume after swell. Typical swell 15–25% for soil, up to 40% for rock.
Truckloads and disposal
Truckloads = loose cubic yards ÷ truck capacity (round up).
Disposal cost = round-up truckloads × dump fee per load. Confirm the tip rate before dispatch.
