Bulk Material vs Bagged Material

Break-even is usually around 0.5–1 cubic yard. Below that, bags win on convenience.

When bulk wins

Anything over ~1 cubic yard is usually cheaper in bulk — often by half.

Bulk suppliers deliver in dump trucks; ask about minimum load fees.

When bagged wins

Small jobs (a few cubic feet).

No driveway or clear yard access.

Specialty mixes (potting soil, seed starter) that aren't sold bulk.
